SURYA MANTRA

SURYA BEEJ MANTRA
(सूर्या बीज मंत्र)

ॐ ह्रां ह्रीं ह्रौं सः सूर्याय नमः॥
In Tibet, monks chant the Surya Beej Mantra (सूर्या बीज मंत्र) every Ravivara or Bhanuvara
(रविवार, भानुवार), as Sunday is called in the Indian Calendar.
- Sunday in the Greco-Roman and Indo-European Calendar, is the day dedicated to the Sun (Surya, सूर्य).
You can read it every Ravivara or Bhanuvara (रविवार, भानुवार / Sunday).
Alternatively, you can copy it to a clean sheet of paper and store it until the next Ravivara or Bhanuvara (रविवार, भानुवार / Sunday), when you will replace it with a new one, burning the old.
SURYA ARGHYA MANTRA
(सूर्य अर्घ्य मंत्र)

ॐ आदित्याय विदमहे भास्कराय धीमहि तन्नो भानु प्रचोदयात्
- OM AADITYAAY VIDMAHE BHAASKARAAYE DHEEMAHI TANNO BHAANU PRACHODAYAAT -
In Tibet, monks chant the Surya Arghya Mantra (सूर्य अर्घ्य मंत्र) every Ravivara or Bhanuvara (रविवार, भानुवार / Sunday), offering the Sun (Surya, सूर्य) a wide-mouthed jar with water in which they have placed an sweet-smelling blossom.
They turn the jar
towards the Sun (Surya, सूर्य), so that its rays are reflected in the water it contains.
Also, the Surya Arghya Mantra (सूर्य अर्घ्य मंत्र) is used during Solar Eclipses (सूर्यग्रहण, Suryagrahan).
- The Solar Eclipse (सूर्यग्रहण, Suryagrahan) takes place when the New Moon (अमावस्या, Amāvásyā) forms near a Node of the Moon (Chandra, चन्द्र).
You follow this practice or copy it on a clean piece of paper during a Solar Eclipse (सूर्यग्रहण,
Suryagrahan) for protection from its intense effects.
Save it until the next Solar Eclipse (सूर्यग्रहण, Suryagrahan), when you will replace it with a new one, burning the old.
